Submerged trees in the Ratanwadi backwaters
BhandardaraLake
Bhandardara lake submerged trees at Ratanwadi — a drowned forest in the backwaters of Arthur Lake. Drowned trees rising out of the still backwaters near Ratanwadi, Bhandardara, in Maharashtra's Sahyadri hills. Bare trunks, glassy water and forest-lined bays, shot just after the monsoon. Tip: Bhandardara is about 180 km from Mumbai and roughly 160-180 km from Pune; monsoon and post-monsoon (June to early winter) is when it is greenest.
